Hiked into Boiling Springs through dew-soaked grass separating agricultural fields and Pennsylvania farmlands. The town itself is very pretty with a camp at the southern end, a nice park and a large Children's Lake. It's also the home of the ATC Mid-Atlantic Office, where I spent a relaxing time on the front porch eating breakfast and filling up on water. The prices at the Getty Convenience Store/Gas Station were rather steep, so I got just enough food to last me until I get to Duncannon some time tomorrow.
Strolling through the hedgerows, farmland and woods of the Cumberland Valley, I was pleasantly surprised at all the wildlife I saw: rabbits, a fox, a hedgehog escorting her young ones, and a woodchuck with her babes as well. It was a relatively flat and easy trail, but at times I had to slop across some muddy goop or wade my way through waist high unmowed grass. There were also lots of small streams crossed on wooden bridges.
In at Cove Mountain Shelter by late afternoon, the first to arrive and as the hour grew later and later, nobody else showed up. Spent a portion of time planning my further resupply strategy and then reading. The rocks started a couple miles back, but are not too bad so far.
